Biography
The Vaudevillagers are restless! A funky Frankenstein of a show, classy bits of everything stitched together in one beautiful beast of a bash! The hottest theatre, spoken word, dance and performance artists all together in a Monster mash up in Le Boudoir. Variety is not a dirty word.
VAUDEVILLAGE MELBOURNE is piloted by the comedy mad man explosion that is John Conway and sidekick Michael Burke. Joining them is smoking, drinking, foul mouthed purple puppet Randy (manhandled by Heath McIvor), loop pedal maestro and ramshackle raconteur, Ryan Coffey, and more laughs from banjoist, comedian and funny dag Anne Edmonds. To give the split sides a rest for a minute, Vaudevillage gets physical –with La Lucha Glamourosa – an all lady Flying Burly Burlesque Mexican Mask Wrestling Mania! Mexican Mask Wresting. And then for something completely different Monty Python collides with Samuel Beckett in vaudeville zombies, the flat out physically fearless Dig Collective. Get in a spin with hoopnotising hula-hooper-trooper Hayley Hoopla, then meet One Trick Pony for a parade of physical brilliance from horse-headed carousel women, to gruff hyper-masculine Strongmen.
VAUDEVILLAGE SYDNEY features performance collective Applespiel, brothers in musical comedy (and life), Smart Casual, the assuredly surreal, sensational and hot damn funny Nick Coyle, actor, musician and beatboxer Holly Austin, theatrical innovators Tin Shed Theatre Company (equal parts Phil Spencer and Scarlet McGlynn), and direct from Bombo quarry, the delightfully weird Shane Matheson, who has something for everyone, provided you like absurd comedians telling jokes.
VAUDEVILLAGE BRISBANE features special interstate guest the smoking, drinking, foul mouthed purple puppet Randy (manhandled by the extremely talented Heath McIvor). In the captain’s chair keeping everything in check is the explosion that is John Conway, improvisational extraordinaire, joined by partner in crime Michael Burke. Into the Vaudevillage walks Brisbane’s own Mel Buttle, comedian and co-creator and co-host of cult podcast The Minutes with Patience from The Grates. Theatre and burlesque star and national theatre maker Neridah Waters is followed by Brisbane comedian and creator of creator of cult online characters Cyan Man and Jaydos and himself, Henry Stone. Mitchell McCutcheon, Queensland victor in Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s Raw Comedy competition for Australia’s best new talent unleashes character comedy brilliance, while comedy cult leaders Skills in Time promise one thing for sure – a party popper explosion party.
